FSSAI Notified Laboratory
FSSAI-notified testing labs at Delhi and Bangalore — NABL-accredited reports accepted for FSSAI licensing, product registration, and export documentation.
FSSAI notifies labs under Section 43 of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 (FSS Act 2006). Only FSSAI-notified labs can issue reports valid for regulatory purposes — FSSAI licensing, product registration, and enforcement sampling under Section 47.
FSSAI notification is the governing recognition for food testing in India under the FSS Act 2006.
Important distinction: NABL accreditation is not the same as FSSAI notification. A lab must hold BOTH to issue reports valid for FSSAI purposes. NABL accreditation alone does not qualify a lab for FSSAI-purpose reporting. Auriga holds both at Delhi and Bangalore — every report from these labs is accepted by FSSAI.
Section 43 of the FSS Act 2006 is the statutory provision under which FSSAI notifies testing laboratories. Only notified labs can produce reports accepted for FSSAI regulatory purposes.
Section 47 of the FSS Act 2006 covers FSSAI enforcement sampling. Samples drawn under Section 47 are analysed at FSSAI-notified labs — the same notification status Auriga holds at Delhi and Bangalore.
FSSAI notification held at Delhi and Bangalore. Each lab carries its own NABL certificate number and the FSSAI-recognised scope appropriate to its accredited methods.
| Lab | FSSAI Status | NABL Certificate | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | FSSAI Notified | NABL TC-7375 | Food, water, food additives, packaging materials |
| Bangalore | FSSAI Notified | NABL TC-5496 | Food, water, microbiological |
Four common regulatory scenarios where the testing lab must hold FSSAI notification under Section 43, not just NABL accreditation.
A product registration submitted to FSSAI requires test data from an FSSAI-notified laboratory. NABL accreditation alone does not qualify the lab for FSSAI-purpose reports — the lab must additionally be notified under Section 43.
Water test reports and food product test reports submitted as part of an FBO (Food Business Operator) FSSAI licence application must come from an FSSAI-notified lab. Auriga Delhi and Bangalore reports are accepted.
If FSSAI samples your product under Section 47 of the FSS Act 2006, the analysis is conducted at an FSSAI-notified laboratory. Voluntary parallel testing at an FSSAI-notified lab provides comparable, defensible data.
APEDA and EIC accept FSSAI-notified lab reports for export quality certification and pre-shipment documentation. The same FSSAI-notified report can support both FSSAI domestic compliance and export submissions.
